The landing sites for future human missions to the Moon might be different to those for robotic missions. There is one site that seems to be high on the list for a human landing. Shackleton crater lies at 79.13°S, 140.60°E. The peaks along the crater’s rim are exposed to almost continual sunlight for about half the year. The interior is perpetually in shadow, and therefore acts as a perennial cold trap. This combination of resources (solar power and water ice) makes Shackleton a likely candidate for establishing an early base.3

Note: I have to wonder how the mission planners expect the crew to get down into the crater to acquire samples. They will land in the well-lit area, not in a place of perpetual darkness. Perhaps a robot will be sent down into the crater to collect samples.
